Paramore: More Than Just Hayley Williams

Now those of you that have heard of Paramore will instantly think something along the lines of: 'Oh yeah, that band with the ginger chick'. Those of you that listen to paramore would find it impossible to argue that they are, in fact, a group of tremendously talented musicians.

Aside from Hayley Williams' incredible vocals, every single member of the band is a master of their instrument and proves this in both their recorded tracks, where every note, riff and drum line is expertly woven into a final sound that is ultimately infectious; and their live performances which are some of the most energetic and engaging experiences available to concert goers of recent times.

From Josh Farro's lead guitar lines that seem to blend in effortlessly with the melody and rhythm of the song to his brother Zac's pulse raising drumming that drives every track forward with a purpose that is unrivalled within the genre. Then we have the raw energy from Jeremy Davis' bass playing (that is just as present on the albums as it is in live shows) that displays his jazz playing roots with much more consistency than most pop punk bands. Last but not least there's Taylor York, the newest addition of the band that was brought into the band (officially, he had played with them live for some time before) in 2009 just before the release of third album 'Brand New Eyes', he integrated into the band effortlessly and his rhythm playing is easily up to the task of keeping up with Josh's lead lines.

One of the best examples of the band's musical talent is in the song that they wrote at 16 (Zac, the drummer, was only 14!!!), Conspiracy; the peaceful atmosphere created by the melodic, clean introduction accompanied by a pounding drum line is interrupted by a mosh-worthy riff that serves also as the chorus. Bearing in mind the age of the band when this was written, this song cannot fail to impress. The band's hit 'Misery Business' is also one that catches the eye (or ear) musically with an all around masterclass from the band from start to end.

I would reccommend an instrumentally impressive song from Brand New Eyes but, to be honest, I can't narrow it down to just one, the entire album displays their talents from start to end, but to give one strong example i would have to say check out the latest single 'Careful'.

So all of this has been said and I haven't even spoken about Hayley's talents (vocally and lyrically). Surely this puts and end to the now boring arguement about whether Paramore really are just Hayley Williams.
